Forget the hard and busy life of the big cities. Relax, you just arrived in paradise!
With only 18.000 in habitants, Ilhabela is what can really be called paradise. It is Brazil’s biggest coastal island, with peaks that reach more than 1.000 meters (3.300ft) height. Covered by exuberant Atlantic Forrest and rounded by many golden sand beaches, the island is turning into an important getaway for people who wish tranquility and strait contact with nature.
The great amount of sunken ships along it’s shore and the transparence of the water around the nearby smaller islands, turned Ilhabela – or Ilha de São Sebastião – into one of the most important and famous dive sites in Brazilian territory.
If you like eco-tourism, you can bet this is the right place. Here you will find more then 300 cascades and waterfalls and dozens of tracks for adventures aboard a jeep, a four-wheeler, a motorbike or a mountain-bike – as well as for the ones who just like to walk, of course.
Come to Ilhabela: a real “Nirvana” for divers (and non-divers too, for sure!).
